Unsealed Documents from Jeffrey Epstein's Federal Case: Independent Analysis by a California-Licensed Attorney
A Breach of Trust
I didn’t follow Jeffrey Epstein closely, but documents recently unsealed by the federal court piqued my curiosity. Unfortunately, almost all the headlines are misleading. For example, Michael Jackson was mentioned once as meeting one of the witnesses, but no article apparently saw it fit to note that Mr. Jackson was a resident and homeowner in Palm Beach, a small town of fewer than 10,000 people. In other words, he was simply paying a neighborly visit. (No evidence exists he received or asked for a massage.) On the flip side, news outlets have not properly highlighted hero Michael Reiter, who was Palm Beach’s police chief at the time, the only person who seems to have investigated Jeffrey Epstein without fear or favor.
One reason few people aggressively pursued Epstein was Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor from 1964 to 2013 who represented Epstein. Though many famous names are mentioned in the unsealed depositions, Dershowitz occupies a place of interest because of his public comments against human trafficking victim Virginia Guiffre.
Though Guiffre has dropped allegations of being trafficked specifically to Alan Dershowitz by Epstein, she was being counter-sued, and her words are curiously vague: she says she “may have made a mistake” in her prior allegations.
